Frequently Asked Questions

  • Integrative medicine is a holistic care approach that treats and heals the whole person—not just a singular symptom or ailment.

Merging evidence-based conventional medicine practices with traditional remedies and functional medicine therapies such as acupuncture, naturopathy, and chiropractic adjustment, integrative medicine covers the full gamut of health, including physical and emotional wellness, lifestyle, daily nutrition, and social and environmental influences that impact overall health and wellbeing.

  • Whether your goal is to optimize overall health or better cope with a chronic condition, I’ll create a highly personalized long-term treatment plan that delves into all aspects of your health.

Conventional medicine typically examines one individual symptom and offers treatment for that issue alone, while integrative medicine takes an investigative approach, analyzing beyond endpoint symptoms to get a holistic picture of the patient’s health to treat the root cause of illness instead of merely one symptom.

At Nabella Health, I take a patient-first approach, combining well-established conventional practices with traditional philosophies to offer thoughtful, whole-body care that considers the mind, body, and spirit of the individual.

  • Testing is a vital component of integrative medicine. I offer a wide array of advanced diagnostic tests, including:

    • Blood tests (chemistry profile, blood counts, inflammatory markers, thyroid hormones, female and male hormones, vitamin and mineral levels, food allergies, etc.)

    • Microbiome and GI tests including Genova GI Effects® and Tiny Health

    • Urine and salivary hormone tests by DUTCH Plus®

    • Food sensitivity testing

    • Genetic testing

    • …and many more.

Testing is comprehensive and completely customized to the individual. The goal of integrative medicine testing is to get an in-depth picture of your health and determine the root cause of your medical concerns.

  • As an integrative medicine and conventional medicine practitioner embodying a holistic care approach, my treatments are specifically tailored to you—the patient. I look at your full picture of physical and mental health and provide recommendations for advanced diagnostic testing, lifestyle changes, stress management tools, nutrition guidance, complementary treatments such as acupuncture or massage, pharmaceutical-grade supplements, and medications to support your journey to healing.

I offer a variety of telemedicine and in-person service options including initial consultation and follow-up visits, a monthly subscription package, and a bespoke concierge medicine service for patients who require frequent, intensive work to optimize their health. You can learn more about my integrative medicine services and inquire about available packages here.

  • Yes. In my integrative medicine practice, I see patients from infancy to midlife adulthood.

  • I am a certified integrative medicine and conventional medicine physician specializing in functional medicine, pediatrics, internal medicine, rheumatology, and concierge medicine.

I started my career in conventional medicine, completing medical school and training at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. I undertook my pediatrics residency at NYU School of Medicine and completed a three-year rheumatology fellowship at Hospital for Special Surgery (the world’s leading academic medical center specializing in musculoskeletal health).

I first entered the world of integrative medicine to better help my son cope with asthma, food allergies, and frequent illnesses. I completed the Functional Medicine Certification Program (AFMCP) at The Institute for Functional Medicine to incorporate the wide-ranging benefits of whole-body, patient-centered treatments within my everyday practice. I have since worked with countless patients ranging from infants to midlife adults to improve their quality of life through a balanced, holistic approach to healthcare.

  • I take on a consultant role with my patients, so it is important that you are under the care of a primary care physician at the time of consultation. I do perform comprehensive blood testing, physical exams (for in person visits only) and associated paperwork, sick visits, and referral to specialists when needed. For example, I do not personally administer vaccinations, perform imaging on-site, or conduct EKG tests.

For true optimization of your health and best outcomes, I recommend having both a primary care physician and an integrative medicine physician.

  • I currently do not offer direct billing for my integrative medicine services. To help patients minimize out-of-pocket expenses, I provide superbills following all visits that that you can independently submit to your insurer for reimbursement. The superbill is a detailed invoice outlining all services provided and contains pertinent information to file a healthcare claim quickly and effectively.
